The Philadelphia Citizen Spotlights the Equal justice Center

The Philadelphia Citizen recently highlighted how the Equal Justice Center (EJC) will function as a “one-stop shop” for low-income Philadelphians who need civil legal aid.

The article shares a story of one client who required visits to multiple legal aid agencies in order to find the assistance needed to win her case. Jessica Hilburn-Holmes, executive director of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, explained that the co-location of organizations into the EJC would increase access to justice by providing a greater variety of services under one roof.

“At a single agency, as much as they try, they only do the law they do,” says Hilburn-Holmes. “But if people are coming into this building and see all these multiple problems, they can say, ‘We can help you with all of these things.’”
